About Us
OUR STORY
How It All Began
For over 20 years, I’ve loved handmade soap. Whenever we came across it at a farmers market or local shop, I stocked up. Something about those simple, carefully crafted bars always made life feel a little better—whether it was the connection to simpler times, the effort that went into them, or just the comfort they brought.
One day, driving home from a Michigan game in DC after buying more soap at a farmers market, I asked Cindy:
“How hard can it be to make soap?”
“Why don’t you find out?”
Cindy’s answer launched me down this path. I made my first batch—and to my surprise, people loved it. What started as a hobby for family and friends grew into a small business: Hideaway Soap.
From Hobby to Passion
At first, I was perfectly content making soap just for us. But soon, neighbors, friends, and even strangers began asking for more. That’s when I realized this wasn’t just about soap—it was about sharing something meaningful with others.
Each bar represents more than ingredients. It carries my failures, my successes, late nights, early mornings, and a desire to create something simple, natural, and truly enjoyable.
What Makes Our Soap Different
Every bar of Hideaway Soap is:
- Handmade from start to finish — mixed, poured, cut, and cured by hand.
- Crafted with care — each success built on experiments, spills, and lessons learned.
- Thoughtfully packaged — Cindy designs, prints, and hand-cuts every label, then wraps each bar.
Our soap isn’t mass-produced. It’s made in small batches by two people who love what they do. Whether you want a single bar or a custom loaf for a gift, celebration, or event—we can make it happen.
We make both all-natural soaps and soaps with colorants and fragrances, so there’s something for everyone.
Meet the Team
- The Maker: I develop every recipe and fragrance, and I make each bar by hand.
- Logistics & Labels: Cindy designs our labels, packages each bar, and ensures every order ships perfectly.
Together, we’re Hideaway Soap.
What We Want You to Feel
When you hold a bar of our soap, we want you to feel:
- The love and care we put into making it
- The knowledge gained through trial and error
- The joy of something handmade, not mass-produced
- The simplicity of a daily ritual elevated into a moment of self-care
Our goal is simple: to make soap people love so much they buy it again—and recommend it to friends and family.
